Four full-service campuses. Six pools. 100+ chartered clubs. Everything Del Webb built into the original lifestyle — and what each rec center is best for.
Each of Sun City West's four rec centers has its own personality — they're not duplicates of each other. R.H. Johnson is the flagship with the library, bowling, and admin. Palm Ridge has the indoor pools and big ballroom. Beardsley feels like a park. Kuentz is where the theatre and woodworking are.
Your $598 rec card grants full access to all four, so most residents bounce between them: pickleball at Palm Ridge, swimming at Beardsley, woodworking at Kuentz, bowling and the pub at R.H. Johnson.
| Rec Center | Known For | Pool Type | Best For |

The biggest, busiest rec center and the administrative heart of the community. Home to the iconic clock-tower library, the 30-lane Sports Pavilion (bowling, billiards, Lizard Acres Pub), three dog parks, and the social hall. If you only visit one rec center on a tour, make it this one — it's the single most representative snapshot of what life in Sun City West looks like day-to-day.
The only rec center with BOTH indoor and outdoor pools — which is huge when Phoenix hits 115°F in July and you still want to swim laps without leaving the building. Home to the Summit Halls ballroom (the community's biggest event venue and where the Newcomers' Orientation is held), the dedicated Liberty Pickleball complex with online court reservations, and an indoor walking track that residents swear by during summer.
The most park-like of the four — Beardsley Park has 10 ramadas (rentable for parties up to 80 people), a Performance Pavilion, the community's only G-Scale Garden Railroad, and a greenhouse. The Olympic-size indoor pool is a quiet favorite for serious lap swimmers and water-fitness classes. Lower-key than R.H. Johnson, which is part of its charm.
The cultural and creative heart of Sun City West. Home to the Stardust Theatre — the community's main performing arts venue with movies, concerts, and stage productions — and the famous Woodworking Club shop, one of the most active chartered clubs in town. The softball field is here, and tennis and pickleball share courts on a published rotating schedule.
The clock-tower library is the most recognized building in Sun City West — and it's a real, full-service public library with 45,000+ items, a Data Resource Center with 12 PCs, a Virtual Reality program, four private study rooms, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
Hosts talks by nationally renowned authors (CJ Box, JA Jance), tech classes, book clubs, chess, Scrabble, and an annual summer puzzle project. Friends of the Library runs Thursday Night Movies at Stardust Theatre.
